Collective Liberation

At Sky Bear ALC, we are committed to advancing collective liberation. Our community actively acknowledges and challenges systemic oppressions, including adultism, racism, classism, ableism, sexism, gender discrimination, religious discrimination, and others. Through education and community building, we strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected.

Sky Bear ALC is dedicated to collective liberation through a focus on decolonization. At Sky Bear ALC, decolonization is achieved by unlearning conventional notions of education, learning, and achievement that came from colonialist and capitalist mindsets. 

Some of the ways we counter these is by organizing in a multi-age community, allowing for ample exploration and play, fostering relationships with the other-than-human (natural) world, making decisions collectively, providing diverse and decolonized resources, and raising children as a village without institutionalization.

At Sky Bear ALC, we are keenly aware of the rapidly evolving world and the numerous challenges it presents for young people. In response, we strive to be agile and proactive in preparing them for the real-world. By equipping them with critical skills, we aim to empower them to chart new paths forward and effectively navigate the challenges of their changing world.
